

Her new friend has lived a life of poverty, forced into prostitution at the age of 12 by her father. Bird lives a comfortable life and had traveled to the Central American country with her church to build a safe house for sex trafficking victims. “We were both able to relate on a very simple human level, both being teenage girls … we suffered from some of the same stuff, like friend drama.”īut the differences are big, and obvious. “I’m still friends with her on Facebook,” said Bird, a senior at Sacred Heart Preparatory.


Two years ago, 18-year-old Atherton resident Jessica Bird traveled to Costa Rica and met a prostitute who otherwise seemed just like her and most teenagers.
